My Child And Yours

Like any other parent, my children’s happiness is a top priority. We want to give them the best of everything, protect them from harm, and help them to reach their full potential.

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your child smile.

Whenever I ask my daughter what she wants to do, the answer is always the same: “Umm, play!”.

The education system in Trinidad has already deprived our primary school children of the right to play, demanding that they sit quietly at their desks for long periods, sending them home with hours of homework.

We may not have too many other options at the primary and secondary school levels, but at the preschool level, we do. We have a say. Should my three-year-old daughter have a booklist for school and a list of homework to do? My answer is NO.

I want my child to play. I want her to learn without even realising that she is learning.

I want to see her choose activities that excite and interest her. I want her to wake up eager to go to school every day.

I want the same for your child. Let’s allow our children to do what they love the most: PLAY!!
